“Everybody’s Faking Too” was originally written for my father, Ben Sidran, to sing. In fact he did record a version of it called “Faking It” on his 2017 record Picture Him Happy. But while his version was a kind of fevered rhythm and blues track delivered with the energy of a disgruntled minister, I was left feeling that there was another way to frame the song, more gently and as a manifesto for self acceptance, borrowing gently from Harry Nilsson.

Over the course of nearly 10 years and hundreds of episodes of my interview podcast The Third Story, I have learned that many of the greatest and most prolific artists still suffer some form of imposter syndrome, or at least believe that they are in some way “faking it”.
